Creating the board

  • Create a jungle scene on a large paper or board ( the above picture is just for reference)  Draw a tree house on a tree branch, and scatter bushes, rocks, a river, and various animals throughout the scene.

  • Place the cutouts of animals and objects around the jungle scene in different locations. Use prepositions such as under, over, behind, across, beside, etc., to position them.

Alternatively, you may project the above image on a projector.

How to use the Storyboard

Introduce the concept of prepositions using simple language. Explain that prepositions are words that show the relationship between objects and their position in space.

Show the jungle scene to the students and point out some of the prepositions used to describe the positions of the animals and objects.

You may provide examples of simple sentences using prepositions, such as “The bird is sitting on the branch” or “The elephant is standing under the tree .”

Activity

  • Divide the students into small groups or pairs.

  • Distribute paper and writing materials to each group.

  • Instruct the students to choose a few animals and objects from the jungle scene and write a short story using prepositions

  • Once the students have finished writing their stories, have each group share their story with the class.

  • Encourage the other students to pay attention to the prepositions used in each story.

This is an example. You may bring forth your own creative ideas.
