Srinithya was studying in class 5 in a government school in Hyderabad. Bright, inquisitive, and ambitious, Srinithya dreamed of studying in a big school and going on to study further in college. On the other hand, neither did her parents have the resources to educate her, nor did they believe that girls needed higher education.
The mentors at Ishva recognised Srinithya’s potential and convinced her parents that she could apply to the Avasara Academy in Pune. Avasara’s mission is to educate and empower bright girls from economically weaker sections of society. Thanks to to diligent support and mentoring provided by Ishva’s mentors and volunteers, Srinithya successfully cleared the entrance examination and the interview at the Avasara Academy. Among other things, the Ishva mentors supported Srinithya in spoken English, English comprehension, and Mathematics.
When Srinithya received her admission letter into Avasara Academy, the entire Ishva community was as delighted as Srinithya. Ishva mentors also counselled Srinithya’ parents and convinced them into agreeing to send her to Avasara.
